Best of luck. I'm 12 years vegan, and the best part is when it becomes something you don't even think about--but when you're feeling your worst, there's at least one thing you're doing right in the world that way. I'm jealous of vegan women--non-ugly, durable vegan shoes are actually hard to find for men.

Rock on. My doc is really cool about the vegan diet too. He's never questioned it or made any of the annoying comments health professionals are known for making.

I've been vegan for almost 5 years and haven't lost a pound. I could stand to loose weight, but oh well. Now that I'm vegan, I tend to wear my gut with pride. "See? I'm vegan and I'm STILL overweight! Take that!"

I hope you're getting better. My suggestion: more food, less coffee. Now only if I could take my own advice...

Ah, the meatmares (or I guess in your case, ovo-lactomares). They'll lessen in frequency eventually, though i still have them now and then and I've been vegan for almost 5 years. It's usually pizza in my dreams.

By the way, great idea for a blog! I wish I would have thought of it when i went vegan.

You can still have your coffee without hauling a coffee maker with you. If you are going to have a camp fire you can just heat the water in a pot and then pour the hot water over a spoonful or two of coffee, depending how strong you want it, in another metal container and place it over the fire until it starts to boil. Take it off the heat and let it sit for a few minutes until the grounds settle on the bottom. It sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't and it tastes good just be careful when you get to the bottom of your cup so you don't get a mouthful of grounds. Have a great time!

I've really been enjoying your blog, & a lot of it resonates w/me (I've been vegan, after 14 years of lacto-ovo, for about 2 weeks now). Thank you for blogging!

Hi! I'm also a new vegan (August 21), and I found your blog from Vegan FAQ. Since becoming vegan, my skin looks better than ever. I remember reading that cutting dairy products out of your diet had been shown to improve skin issues. Something about pus in dairy and pus ending up under the skin... YUCK. Anyways, I'm glad there's a blog out there from a newbie! Take care!
