Practical Vegan

Why the Practical Vegan?

November 20th, 2007

When I went vegan I didn’t know jack. Cooking was mystery to me, and there were entire sections of the grocery store that were unknown to me. I didn’t know where to get shoes, or cruelty free makeup. I had to figure it all out on my own.

As I was researching how to be vegan I realized that most resources are either too quick, too extravagant, or too DIY. It either didn’t taste good, took too long, or was extremely impractical. I wanted to be vegan, but I didn’t want to spend half my life in the kitchen, spend $20 on eye shadow that still wasn’t the right color, or make my own soap.

I’ve been stumbling my way towards a solution that makes sense. Figuring out the mysteries of the supermarket, learning how to make things that taste good in my tiny kitchen, and being well rested enough in the morning to make a wholesome breakfast and put on my make-up.

The goal of this site is to keep you from making the same mistakes I did, and to conjure up some ideas on how to eat well, look good, and be vegan without it being an all consuming task. I am working towards being a practical vegan that makes being cruelty free something that looks doable and appealing to even the most die-hard carnivore.
